The Rule of Jesus Begins

(A Sermon Based on Luke 1:26-45)

There is an achingly real Mary that we need to notice here. Why? Because we all have achingly real lives. When we truly see her, we can truly see how Jesus comes to us. He comes as Savior and God. We don’t immediately rejoice over that, but the Spirit gets us there. Listen in to see how.

Jesus is Everything

(A Sermon Based on Hebrews 13:1-14)

What is this section of Hebrews about? Is it about spiritual siblings or strangers or the oppressed or sex or money or spiritual authority? What’s it about? It’s about all of that and none of that. It’s about the Christian denying their autonomy, but finally it’s about something more. It’s about - well - listen in.

Drink This!

(A Sermon Based on John 4:4-18)

This is a delicate topic and it is handled delicately. You can see it everywhere in John's account. You can also see it clearly in Jesus' approach. He is delicate with this delicate topic in your life. He is also brilliant. Jesus reveals to us here our inner thirst for acceptance and love and respect. And, better yet, he shows us how that thirst is quenched properly all the way into eternity and in a way that won't leave you poured out and dry. Listen in.

Your Thing That Isn't a Thing

The Fifth Sermon in a Series called Romans The Gospel According to Paul Based on Romans 6:1-11

You've got your thing and I've got my thing, but we've all got our thing. It might be a thing that you want to get rid of. Like your fear. Or your anxiety. Or your depression. Or your people pleasing. Or your money spending habits. Those things could be your thing. Or it might be a thing you want that you know you shouldn’t have, but it still compels you. It still drives you. It’s a thing that you think you need to have to be happy. To be satisfied. To be ok. You know – your thing. It might be – how can this be put delicately? – a certain need that you have. Or your personal success however you define it. Or your respect. Or your financial security. Or the admiration of your peers. Or nicer stuff. You know your thing. Your thing that you don’t really want to tell anybody about. The thing that makes you feel and do things out of kilter and out of order. The thing that is broken and busted and off about you. This is a sermon about freedom from that thing. Listen in and live free!
