From Lust to Love

(A Sermon Based on Judges 14:1-19)

There is an age old story here. This is the story of what happens when a young man - or any person really! - hangs out in a place where he shouldn’t have been hanging out and looks at someone he shouldn’t have been looking at. This sermon seeks to examine through that story the power of lust, the destruction of lust, and the power of love, which conquers lust. Listen in!

The Joy of Self-Forgetting

(A Sermon Based on 1 Cor. 12:12-26)

Christians tend to be drawn based on their giftedness to one of two places: feelings of self-loathing or feelings of superiority. Both of these responses to our giftedness make us self-conscious and - for different reasons - cause the rest of the Body of Christ to suffer. This sermon seeks to remove both sets of feelings from the listener and, finally, to lead the listener to their identity in Christ and the joy of self-forgetting.

The Gift of Each Other

(A Sermon Based on 1 Cor. 12:1-11)

There are times when it feels like coming to church is our greatest bain instead of our greatest blessing. Why is that? And how do we overcome that? How can we make coming to church feel like it’s Christmas every week? This sermon seeks to address those questions through a better, clearer understanding of God. The goal is for each of us to be unleashed for unparalleled and joyful service to Jesus. Listen in!

The Vulnerable Pastor

(A Sermon Based on Philippians 1:27-2:4)

Pastors have profound relationships with their churches. They love them, serve them, and sometimes even ache for them. Paul had that kind of profound relationship with his church too. And he leveraged that relationship all the way to the hilt on one single issue. Here's what made him as a pastor get vulnerable and what made this pastor share his heart too. Listen in!

Jesus' First Pick

The Fourth Sermon in a Sermon Series called ACT II based on Acts 7:57-8:3; 9:1-6

The Spirit through Luke gives us the biography of a true terrorist who parachutes into the Acts story out of the clear blue sky. It's so striking. And why? So we know who Jesus thinks has the right resume to bring his gospel to the world. And that fact alone has a world to say to every Christian who has a high and holy calling. Today we think of how that relates to Christian moms.
