The President did what?!? The pastor said what?!? Our military did what to the prisoners?! The priest did what to those boys?! Scandals aren’t just bad because bad things happen. Scandals deal with things we didn’t see coming, things that “shouldn’t” happen the way they do. The events of Jesus’ suffering and death would definitely qualify. But as we know there is more to this scandal than what transpired in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago. The scandal includes us all! Sadly it is the scandal of our sin that caused all that Jesus endured. Yet even greater is the scandal that is God’s grace, his undeserved love for us, that caused him to send his Son, Jesus. During this season of Lent we will unpack The Scandal that took place 2,000 years ago and its significance for us still today.
